Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 4: Union Home Minister, Amit Shah on Tuesday recalled the contributions of Praja Parishad and Jan Sangh leaders for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union.
Speaking at a function in Jammu on Tuesday evening, Union Home Minister recalled the Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan, and Ek Nishan agitation launched by Praja Parishad leader Pandit Prem Nath Dogra in the early 1950s for total integration of J&K with the Indian Union.
He further recalled the supreme sacrifice of Jan Sangh leader Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukherjee who attained martyrdom while entering the erstwhile state of J&K without a permit.
“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfilled the dreams of late Pandit Prem Dogra and Dr. Shyama Prashad Mukherjee on August 5, 2019, by abrogating Article 370 and 35-A”, he said and the struggle started by both the leaders was taken to the logical conclusion by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Union Home Minister also appreciated Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for declaring a holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
He said that it was a long pending demand of the people of the Jammu region because it was all due to the visionary decision of Maharaja Hari Singh that the then princely state of Jammu and Kashmir was merged with the Indian Union in 1947.
Pointing toward the situation in J&K, he said that earlier there were stone-pelting incidents, have you seen any such incidents now? No such incidents now. “We have to understand the change that has come now. We have identified those in the administration who were supporting terrorism and rooted them out”, he said.
“After the abrogation of Article 370, people in J&K got benefits from various govt schemes. Democracy is strengthened when people welcome change. It's important to identify the three families of J&K which nurtured separatism instead of development”, he said.
