JAMMU, Oct 28: Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has asserted that the Govt at the Centre is paying focussed attention to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to ensure welfare and prosperity of the people of this traumatized region, who had to bear the brunt of terrorism for the past about three decades.
He expressed this while addressing a gathering during a programme organized here today to kick-start blacktopping work of the road in Ward No: 47 here today.
It is pertinent to mention here that he inaugurated the execution of this work estimated to cost about Rs. 25 lakh in the presence of Vinay Gupta, Bharatiya Janata Party District President Jammu; Sharda Kumari, Corporator Ward No: 47, Dalbir Singh, Krishan Lal, Dr Davinder Singh, Suraj Rana, Amit Gupta, Ashok Kumar Vaid, Mohinder Kumar and a large number of local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Kavinder said, “The Union Government is paying focussed attention to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and is determined to carry out developmental activities in every nook and corner of this sensitive region.”
He said that Modi led Govt at the Centre has prioritized the overall development of all the areas without any rural-urban or other discrimination with main focus on roads which ensure the smooth supply of basic essentials as well as other commodities for the ease of living of the people. He said that the Govt stands fully committed to ensure the improvement of road infrastructure in all the areas.
Kavinder said that the blacktopping of the road taken up today was a long pending demand of the people of this area and after the completion of this project the people of this Ward as well as the people of the surrounding areas besides those from other areas commuting these roads for various purposes will get benefitted.
Meanwhile, the former Deputy Chief Minister also interacted with the people and took stock of their problems and issues on the occasion.
After giving them a patient hearing, he assured them to get their grievances addressed at the earliest by taking up the matter with the concerned authorities.
