KISHTWAR, Oct 28: Social Welfare Department Kishtwar, in Collaboration with Artificial Limbs Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a public sector enterprises functioning under the control of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, today organised a distribution camp under Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) scheme here at DC Office Complex Mini Secretariat.
The camp was held under the guidance of District Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar, Zubair Ahmed Lone and under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav.
ADDC Kishtwar, Sham Lal was the chief guest on the occasion.
Different aids and appliances were distributed among 103 beneficiaries which included Wheelchairs Adult and small, CP Chair, Hearing Aid, MSIED kit, Smart Cane, Daisy Players, Braille Kit, Crutches Walking Sticks Rollator Callipers etc in presence of ADDC.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar, Field Officer from Elder Line and staff of Social Welfare Department Kishtwar were present on the occasion.
The main objective of the scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons by providing durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern standard aids and appliances to promote physical social, psychological rehabilitation of persons with disabilities by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential.
Assistive devices were given to persons with Disabilities (PwDs) with an aim to improve their independent functioning and to arrest the extent of disability and occurrence of secondary disability besides distribution of Prosthetic aid
Awareness was also provided to Senior citizens regarding registration for issuance of Age Certificate, registration of PWD voters for issuance of EPIC card, registration for UDID cards, Elder line and other welfare schemes run by the Social Welfare Department.
