Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 28: Raj Rattan Raina, President Namo Namo Morcha (Bharat), J&K, raised serious concern over rising Dengue cases due to which seven persons have lost their lives in the Union Territory.
In a statement issued here today, Raj Rattan Raina said that as per reports this time the number of Dengue cases reported in J&K is the highest during the past twenty years with 90 percent of cases having been reported from Jammu district alone. He said that around 10 to 12 dengue patients being admitted daily in GMC Jammu is ample proof of the seriousness of the situation. He said the situation is very precarious as this year about 4,649 dengue cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir out of which 90 percent of cases which is 3,784 cases are from Jammu district only.
The BJP leader said that since Dengue is caused by mosquito species that breed in areas where there is stagnant water, therefore the people should ensure that there is no stagnant water in their surroundings.
He said for this the government departments and agencies need to make people aware about the precautions and Dos and Don’ts for prevention of the breeding of mosquitoes so as to minimize the chances of Dengue spread.
People need to be made aware about the symptoms of Dengue other than fever so that such patients reach the hospitals without any wastage of time, he said.
Raina demanded that the administration should immediately gear up its campaign against this deadly disease on topmost priority. He asserted that in addition to the aforesaid measures the Municipalities must start a vigorous fumigation campaign in all the areas, first prioritizing the areas that abound in stagnant waters and plantations.
“Jammu Municipal Corporation must rush its men and machinery without any further delay across the Jammu district for fumigation and maintaining optimum sanitation conditions,” he added.
