Div Com reviews road clearance mechanism in wake of winter season

JAMMU, Nov 30: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today convened a meeting with R&B Engineers, NHAI and BRO to review mechanism being put in place for snow clearance during ongoing winter season in snow bound districts of Jammu division.
Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned Chief Engineers to ensure availability of snow cutter machines in all district headquarters so that clearance of snow from roads is ensured at an earliest. He asked them to keep men and machinery ready for snow clearance and dewatering pumps in case of water logging.
Div Com also instructed Chief Engineer PWD, officers of NHAI, NHIDCL, BRO, Beacons to formulate plan, activate control rooms in snow bound areas and also submit the action plan and details of deployment to concerned DCs and SSPs for quick response in case of any exigency.
He also stressed on availability of snow cutter machines in far flung areas for augmenting snow clearance operations.
Div Com directed the engineers to establish joint control rooms at district and central levels in the offices of Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers for better coordination and quick response to meet any exigency.
Div Com also instructed the Executing agencies to expedite the pace of work on all the ongoing road projects for their timely completion.
Div com also issued directions for deputing men and machinery at tourist destinations with special reference to Patnitop. He asked concerned officers to identify parking spaces to avoid parking on roads.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Krittika Jyotsna; Chief Engineers of PWD, PMGSY, MED, General Manager NHIDCL, Project Directors of NHAI, CEO Patnitop Development Authority besides other concerned officers while Deputy Commissioner Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban participated online.
