Campaign to bulldoze houses of terrorists likely to be intensified
12/14/2022 11:36:18 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 14: The campaign to bulldoze houses of the dreaded terrorists will continue in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as part of the offensive against the anti-national elements.
On the one hand, the UT government is sealing houses for harbouring terrorists while on the other a fresh campaign has been initiated to demolish the houses of terrorists.
First-time, Jammu, and Kashmir on Saturday bulldozed the residence of the self-styled commander of the proscribed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad Ashiq Nengroo in the Pulwama district of the Union Territory.
Sources said that demolishing of Nengroo's house was a just beginning of the campaign more terrorists are likely to face similar action.
“As many as 20 houses have already been identified for demolisition because these houses of terrorists are built on encroached government land”, sources said and added previous regime in the erstwhile state of J&K could not muster guts to retrive the encroached government land from the terrorists due to political compulision.
Sources said that previous governments were much aware that some terrorists have encroached state land and erected palatial bunglows on that land but no action was taken.
“Now LG administration has decided to retrive the state land encroached by terrorists”, sources said.
First time the house of a terrorist was demolished by the authorities. Earlier some houses were seized by the UT administration for sheltering and harbouring terrorists.
These residential houses used for the wilful harbouring of terrorists were attached as per section 2(g) and section 25 of the UAP Act. These houses were proved to be used for purpose of terrorists and shelter was voluntarily and knowingly given by the members of the house, the police said.
After declaring that any person who harbours and supports terrorists is equally guilty as a terrorist, Jammu and Kashmir Police started the campaign to seize residential houses in giving shelter to terrorists.
The campaign to seize houses was started after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha warned that those who harbour and support the terrorist, are equally guilty as a terrorist, who kill people.
While addressing a function at Jammu on Monday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha made it clear that bulldozing of terrorists’ houses constructed on state land will be continued across J&K.
Quoting Abhimanyu in Mahabharata, he said, “security forces have dismantled and broken six barricades of terrorism. Now only the seventh barricade remains. I hope that this 7th barricade is broken fast.”
Asserting that peace and normalcy cannot be bought to Jammu and Kashmir through “bargaining”, Sinha said, “GoI has a clear-cut policy that one cannot buy peace but it has to be established. We are following that.”
He said at one point in time “bargaining” was done to buy peace in Jammu and Kashmir. “That era has passed away. Now it is time to establish durable and long-lasting peace.”
