Now Lithium deposits in Jammu frustrate Pak terror groups, Intel agencies alert JK Govt
2/17/2023 10:37:29 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 17: The discovery of the big deposits of Lithium in Jammu province has further frustrated the terror groups based in Jammu prompting the intelligence agencies to alert the government about the “evil intentions of the enemy country.”
Sources said the intelligence agencies have accessed terror intercepts whereby, The Resistance Front, a dreaded terror group based in Pakistan, has been spreading a misinformation campaign to create chaos and to unleash terror.
While the TRF has been notorious for the threat letters against the Kashmir Pandit community in particular, in the latest, the Lashkar offshoot has spewed venom against the lithium deposits.
In one of the terror messages as intercepted by the intelligence agencies, “IIOJK is not only a piece of Occupied Land but it is a heaven of natural resources which Fascist India wants not only to loot but also at the very same time dictate terms with other countries,” the TRF has said in the terror grossly provocative and anti-national message to its cadres.
Sources said the matter has been brought to the notice of the Jammu and Kashmir government and that a probe has been ordered.
Its pertinent to mention that Jammu province has been victim of terror bearing the brunt for the last few years. This year alone, on the very first day of the New Year, seven civilians were killed by terrorists in Rajauri district whereas subsequently blasts rocked Jammu city highway. Most of the drone infiltrations bid, smuggling of arms and narcotics have been reported from Jammu region. Apart from all this, most of the terror tunnels were also found dug up in the Jammu region along the frontier. Pakistan has become so jealous of Jammu that the enemy country was conspiring to explode perfume bombs. The timely action of the police as it seized the sophisticated bomb foiled the nefarious designs of the enemy county last month.
On February 9, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) announced that lithium reserves have been found for the first time in India, in Jammu and Kashmir. “...GSI, for the first time established 5.9 million tonnes inferred resources (G3) of lithium in Salal-Haimana area of Reasi district of J&K,” a statement read.
With a specific gravity of 0.534, it is about half as dense as water. In its pure elemental form it is a soft, silvery-white metal, but is highly reactive and therefore never found like this in nature.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) says lithium occurs in most rocks as a trace element, substituting for magnesium in common rock-forming minerals. “Lithium has an average concentration of 20 parts per million in the Earth’s continental crust. It is more abundant than some of the better-known metals, including tin and silver,” says the USGS.
According to the USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries, 2022, identified lithium resources globally have been revised to 80 million tonne.
