Bharat Jodo Yatra: ‘Whispering’ in J&K Cong on utilization of funds
3/5/2023 10:36:19 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 5: Over one month has passed since the conclusion of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra but incumbent Congress leadership in J&K has yet not briefed workers about the funds received and utilized during the stay of Yatra in the Union Territory.
Highly placed sources in Congress said that the party's high command has pumped huge amounts for the conclusion of the Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir but neither leaders nor workers are fully aware of the amount spent during the Yatra.
“Funds were at the disposal of a coterie within the party. Except for that coterie neither any leader nor any worker was aware of the total funds allocated by the high command and how much funds were utilized”, sources said and added that many leaders who spent money from their pockets are still trying to get back the money they utilized.
Sources said that some leaders have raised the demand that party leadership should inform local leaders about the utilization of funds during the stay of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K.
“Some leaders are demanding that those who had controlled the funds should come out with full details about the utilization of the same”, sources said.
During the last phase of his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi spent 11 days in Jammu and Kashmir and participated in various public meets, and interactions besides visiting famous temples and shrines.
The Yatra entered J&K on January 19 from Lakhanpur-the gateway of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Yatra was culminate during a function in Srinagar on January 30 where all Congress Chief Ministers and some senior leaders of the opposition participated.
