BLSKS presents Dogri Musical Concert "Nai Piyan Tamaku"

JAMMU, Mar 10: To observe "No Smoking Day", & to promote the traditional culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in close coordination with Directorate of Social Welfare Department Jammu & Kashmir Govt. , and Sangam Tru Art Production, presented its 151th Friday Series Dogri Musical Concert "NAI PIYAN TAMAKU" on the theme of "Drug Abuse" at Durga Bhawan Janipur , Jammu the most effective measures to protect the masses especially the vulnerable population i.e. adolescents from getting exploited by the menace of Drug addiction especially smoking were presented by way of generating awareness through effective information and communication technologies. The Program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest V.K. Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India Among the Guest of Honors present were Dr. Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director, Health Department J&K Government, Dr. Anju Kumari Dogra, Health Department Jammu & Mr.Mukesh Singh, Media Person - The Shadow Newspaper Jammu and other dignitaries. The function commemorated with sole aim of rejuvenating the traditional, Primitive Folk, Art, Culture of J&K Region in particular and Indian nation in general awareness items. The Specially items prepared on the theme , "Nasha Na Karna Maan Lo Kehna", "Nasha Hai Ek Abhishap", "Nashe Ka Jo Hua Shikar Ujda Uska", Nukkad, Skits, Songs and Dances were presented. The chief guest Magotra, said No Smoking Day awareness movement was first started in 1984 in the United Kingdom march 9 and since then it has been an annual celebration event and tries to save people from the harmful effects of smoking .The motto behind this day celebration is to help people to quit smoking forever. According to the researchers, this effort has proven very effective and it was observed that at least one among the ten people has to give up smoking on this day. The effects of drugs at last, there comes a stage when a person who takes drugs becomes dependent on them and has to keep on taking them due to avoid the pain of withdrawal symptoms and also said drugs and crime uses the commemorative day to highlight the dangers of drug use and their illegal trade and provides educational material to teachers and public officials all over the world to help spread the message about the extreme cultural and economic harm the trade in drugs is still doing across the globe and lauded the efforts of the organizers in making such awareness programmes colorful and effective. In addition to the above programe the artists of BLSKs also presented awareness songs "Nasha Muh Ka Maza, Maut Ki Saza". The songs were written & directed by Dr. M.L. Dogra & the music of the concert was assisted by Raju Bajgal, Music Instructor, BLSKS. The songs were recorded and uploaded on social media for benefit of general public.
Earlier welcome speech was given by Dr.M.L. Dogra, Chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan said No Smoking day every year is observed to help smokers who want to quit smoking and also to raise awareness about the health effects of smoking in daily life. This year it falls on March 9. This musical concert was based on the theme Drug Abuse, the characters of the concert mainly expressed to take away from the drugs/ smoking and lives happy life highlighting the event also appealed to the audience especially children to be the eyes and ears of the nation and pledged to put maximum efforts to make J&K State free from Menace of Drug addiction & smoking. The significant role of NGO'S in the last few decades for improving health caere of people such as child mental health, schizophrenia and were emphasized.
The singers, musician ,actors and students of music and computer institute who participated in the musical concert were Usha Raina, Rajni Gupta, Sudesh Devi, Chahat Chadha, Sanjeev sodhi and many others presented enthralled performances. At last of the programe Deepak Kumar Dogra presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
