Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 10: The Directorate of Information Technology & Support System, University of Kashmir, has come under the scanner of the authorities for the allegedly shady process of recruitment for some contractual posts.
On March 8, the applicants for the Contractual posts of Chief Trainer and Assistant Trainer for a project were shocked to see that just five days ahead of the exam scheduled for March 13 the KU authorities released its syllabus.
Sources said since the submission of the forms, the job applicants had been appealing the authorities that the syllabus be issued forthwith so that they would prepare for the exams.
“But every time we approached the university authorities, we were told that the syllabus would be released much before the exams and that we shouldn’t worry about that. But now suddenly less than a week ahead of the exams, the syllabus has been released,” the applicants said.
The applicants said the “hurried release of the syllabus means that the university authorities don’t want the job applicants to prepare for the same and the reason can be only one that they are eyeing to benefit some influential persons as usual.”
Sources said the officer, who has issued the “controversial orders” has been under the radar of the government for the last many months.
“In fact his own appointment and qualifications have been under the scanner but the height is that instead of feeling the guilt he is resorting to more frauds,” said an insider on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the matter has come to the notice of the Raj Bhawan as to why the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir Prof Nilofer Khan has been silent on the issue.
“How can the VC be silent when the job applicants have raised genuine questions and why is such an officer who is already under scanner calling the shots,” said some KU officials on the condition of anonymity.
When contacted a senior official said the matter was being looked into.
