JKTPO organises export awareness & capacity building workshop

JAMMU, Mar 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) collaborated with several organizsations, including the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), District Administration Reasi, Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd (ECGC), Micro Small & Medium Enterprises and State Bank of India (SBI) to organise an export awareness workshop in Jammu today. The aim of the workshop was to fulfill the vision of increasing exports from every district of Jammu and Kashmir, making each district a potential export hub and increase exports by three times in the next five years.
The workshop covered various sessions, including the benefits of exports, the process of obtaining an IEC code, awareness regarding India Business Portal and India Trade portal, credit linkages for exports, credit risk insurance facilities, e-commerce platforms, logistics and the potential of regional products in the international market.
During the opening speech, Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi, Jyoti Salathia, emphasised the importance of exports for products of Reasi, particularly for ODOP-DEH products of the district, such as aromatic plants, lemongrass, spices, etc. She also highlighted self-employment among women and the various schemes available to them without the need for middlemen.
The JKTPO team welcomed and briefed the audience about the organisation's mandate and various trade and export promotion initiatives. The team informed the attendees that JKTPO regularly organises and participates in various activities, including buyer-seller meets, trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, etc., at the national and international level.
The workshop had several presentations, including one from AK Bhushan, Deputy Director DGFT, Jammu, who briefed the participants about various government schemes for export promotion and the documentation required for IEC registration. Dr. Kausar Fatima, APEDA, informed the participants about the rules, regulations and guidelines for exporters on various products as per the concerned country for export. Devender Kumar Tyagi and Rajesh Tyagi, Assistant Directors, MSME DFO Jammu, highlighted the importance of various MSME schemes run by the Government of India, how an enterprise can apply for Udyam registration and the benefits of various subsidies under each scheme that can be availed.
Debi Prashad, ECGC, gave a presentation on the importance of insurance cover for exporters and emphasised that ECGC provides a range of credit risk insurance covers to exporters against loss in export of goods and services. Chirag, Manager (Regional Treasury Marketing Unit), State Bank of India, informed the attendees about credit facilities, hedging benefits and trading by the customer on FX-Retail Platform and pre and post shipment requirements of export business.
Gaurav Gupta, Dy. Director FIEO, gave a presentation on the benefits of registration on the Indian Business Portal and informed about free online business, easy and affordable credit rating, compliance with the government and updates from FIEO on mail. Overall, about 100 participants, including all District officers of Reasi, members of industrial associations, entrepreneurs, artisans, FPOs, SHGs and women entrepreneurs, attended the session. The workshop provided valuable insights into the world of exports, enabling the attendees to take advantage of various government schemes and initiatives and boosting the exports from Jammu and Kashmir.
