MeT predicts rise in day temperature across J&K

SRINAGAR, Mar 11: The meteorological (MeT) department on Saturday predicted appreciable rise in day temperature across Jammu and Kashmir.
The temperatures in Kashmir have been already running 5-7 degrees above normal and 3-4 degrees above normal in Jammu region.
According to MeT officials, there is no forecast of any heavy spell of rain this week. However, afternoon thunderstorms at isolated places have not been ruled out by the MeT.
Both day and night temperature continue to rise in Kashmir, they said
MeT said last night Srinagar recorded temperatures of 3.40C which was 0.10C above normal. The day temperature in Srinagar on Friday was 210C nearly 7 degrees above normal.
The tourist resort of Pahalgam in Anantnag district of south Kashmir was the only place which recorded sub zero temperature last night. Pahalgam weather station recorded a low of minus 0.40C which was 1.0?C above normal. The day temperature at the resort was 18?C on Friday, 7 degrees above normal.
The other famous resort Gulmarg in Baramulla district recorded a low of 2.00C which was 5.5?C above normal.
The winter capital Jammu recorded a low of 15.50C the previous night. MeT said the temperature was 1.40C above normal.
"There will be an appreciable rise in day temperature across the whole of J&K," MeT officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir experienced a rainfall deficit in January and February.
The MeT said that during these two winter months Jammu and Kashmir received 176 mm overall precipitation against the normal of 225 mm.
