NSDs 12-day acting, direction workshop begins in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Mar 11: With an aim at giving exposure, a 12-day workshop for honing acting and direction skills of theatre artistes began here on Saturday.
The workshop was organised by the Theatre-in-Education Centre of National School of Drama (NSD) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
The workshop marks the formal inauguration of NSD Centre in Srinagar, officials said.
The inaugural session was led by eminent theatre faculty of the National School of Drama including Prof. Santanu Bose, Dipankar Paul, Yeshraj Jhadav, and Sandeep Bhattachargya.
According to NSD officials, the initiative is aimed at giving exposure to theatre artistes in the Kashmir Valley to industry standards on acting and direction skills.
Diverse range of topics on various aspects of acting and direction will be covered during the workshop by theatre persons, they said.
The workshop is being monitored by NSD's Centre incharge, Prof. Bose. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the workshop would help the artistes of Kashmir to get breakthrough roles on different stages and platforms.
The theatre workshop is being coordinated by NSD's Srinagar coordinator, Gulzar Ganai. Around 30 students from various parts of Kashmir valley are participating in it.
Other eminent persons who spoke on the occasion were Incharge, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr. Farooq Anwaar Mirza; NSD's Srinagar Coordinator, Gulzar Ganai, and NSD faculty members - Dipankar Paul, Yeshraj Jhadav, and Sandeep Bhattachargya.
Among others, the inaugural function was attended by Academy's Srinagar based senior functionaries besides teaching faculty of the NSD. The workshop, which is an initiative of NSD Director, Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Chandra Gaur, will conclude on 22nd of this month.
