Rafting competition held under Civic Action Programme

REASI, Mar 15: Reasi police organised a UT level Rafting Competition in Chenab River at Baradari Reasi under Civic Action Programme of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Amit Gupta-JKPS Reasi accompanied by ASP Reasi Master Popsy and Neeraj Padyar-JKPS Dy.SP Hqrs. Reasi inaugurated the Rafting Competition in presence of huge gathering.
8 teams from different part of the UT participated in the mega event on Chenab River at Baradari, Reasi where huge gathering of people from all over Reasi District witnessed the first ever Rafting Competition organised by Reasi Police.
There were two events in the championship - time trails sprint and head-to-head sprint Marathon down river race. Points earned from each event were accumulated to decide the champion team. In the nail biting competition team of Rafting federation J&K Stood first, Reasi -B Rafting club stood second and Bhaderwah Rafting team stands third in SPRINT Event. While in HEAD TO HEAD competition Rafting federation J&K stood first and Udhampur Rafting team stood Runner up.
At the concluding ceremony, winners were felicitated with cash prize, in time trails sprint winner was given Rs.15000/-, Runner up Rs. 10,000/- and second runner up Rs.5000/- and in head-to-head sprint Winner was given Rs.25000/- and Runner up Rs.15000/-. The purpose of the event is to promote adventure tourism in Reasi district and to impress upon the youth to involve in such activities for self employment also for which a training module in Rafting of 02 weeks for local youth from every nook and corner is also being conducted by Reasi Police and other purpose is to popularise Rafting among pilgrims and tourists visiting the district and UT of J&K.
Speaking on the occasion SSP Reasi Amit Gupta - JKPS said that Reasi Police is committed to give platform to the youth of the district for excellence in every field, whether it is Sports or Education. SSP Reasi in his address highlighted the different initiatives taken by District Police Reasi and thanked members of White Water Federation of J&K members and all the participants for their enthusiasm in addition to complementing the efforts of all stake holders in making this prestigious event a grand success.
