JAMMU, Mar 15: Even as the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board or JKSSB has deferred all the computer-based written tests (CBT) scheduled to start from March 16, a last moment intervention from the Modi government is understood to have brought respite for the thousands of job applicants of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said the matter was brought to the notice of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah that the job applicants were annoyed that the JKSSB has hired one private firm, which had been blacklisted by Yogi Government in Uttar Pradesh, to hold exams in J&K much against the aspirations of the youth who smell a rat in the deal.
Sources said the official machinery in New Delhi at once picked up the issue with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in the evening hours.
The sources said the Sinha subsequently picked up the issue with some top officials in the administration including the Chairman SRRB and that it was unanimously resolved that exams be deferred.
In a post on its official Twitter handle, JKSSB on March 14 evening had said the Computer Based Examinations or CBT for various posts scheduled with effect from March 16 are deferred till further intimation.
“The Computer Based Examinations for various posts scheduled w.e.f. 16.03.2023 to 05.04.2023 are deferred till further intimation,” JKSSB said in the tweet, posted at 22.45 hrs this evening.
Even as no reason has been assigned for deferring the exams, the announcement comes amid ongoing protests by the aspirants against the hiring of a previously black-listed company.
Earlier, the JKSSB had defended the procedure involved in hiring the controversial agency for conducting the recruitment exams and alleged that some elements with vested interests were instigating the job aspirants. The Board had claimed that all arrangements were put in place to ensure fair and transparent exams.
