Jammu, Mar 15: Chief Spokesperson BJP Mahila Morcha J&KUT Ritika Trehan along with other Women Wing members today paid rich tributes to Dr Sumedha Sharma who was brutally murdered by her male friend in Janipur city. Speaking on the occasion, Ritika termed the incident “Love Jihad”. This killing is an eye-opener for all and demanded Govt to bring a strict law to stop such killings.She stressed that “understanding the basic character of jihad and making a powerful law to end it is a first step”. “Unless our criminal justice system is augmented to a level where organised crimes like love jihad can be tackled properly, more cases will emerge,” she said.She described Sumedha’s killing as “an open case of love jihad” and demanded strict action against the accused. She demanded a Central law to “stop love jihad” in the country. “Even if there is a single case where a Hindu girl or woman has been lured in the name of love and murdered, we will speak against it. We want a law against ‘Love Jihad’,” she said. This law will prevent innocent girls being forcefully converted on the pretext of marriage. |
