Private schools looting parents, alleges Amit Kapoor
4/4/2023 11:15:13 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 4: Chairman of All Parents Association President Amit Kapoor on Tuesday alleged that private schools in Jammu and Kashmir are looting people on one or other pretext.
Talking to Early Times, Kapoor said, “Private schools are selling their books in selected book shops. They are taking huge amounts in the name of annual fees. They are charging capitation fees, and are taking other charges from the parents.”
He said that J&K Fee Fixation Committee gives approval to every school for any charges to be taken from the parents but the private schools don’t pay any heed to the directions of FCC and charge as per their will. “Uniforms and books are sold at exorbitant rates at selected shops as the schools get commission from them,” he alleged.
“Thousands of parents have given complaints against the arbitrariness of private schools to the administration and education department, but in spite of this, the department is not taking any action,” he said.
Kapoor said, “Every year books of private schools change and parents have to shell out thousands every year to provide education to their children.”
He said, “Education Mafia has become a big business as there is no accountability.”
Kapoor urged the parents to ask schools to show approval of FCC whenever they are asked to pay the annual fee.
Meanwhile, Kapoor along with the parents of the children protested outside Hari Singh Park and demanded the Director School Education to take strict steps to stop the private schools from looting the parents.
Amit Kapoor expressed gratitude to the J&K administration for the order issued by the government regarding admission to the first class. Along with this, he demanded that the Directors School Education should take strict steps to provide relief to the parents from the arbitrariness of private schools.
“The Director School Education should show some courage and implement strict orders on private schools so that the parents don’t have to pay through their nose,” Kapoor said.
