4/4/2023 11:27:27 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 4: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC Jammu on Tuesday said that democracy is under severe threat as there is a semblance to authoritarian regime under BJP rule because opposition voices are being muzzled every now and then.
In a statement issued to media persons, the NC stalwart leader said that the ruling party is promoting pandemonium in Parliament to avoid the questions from opposition, which is nothing but the proof of 'death' of democracy.
"With people who are answerable trying to create hullabaloo in the Parliament, it could be well gauged that future of country is bleak under such representatives, who are draining exchequer by stopping the parliament from normal functioning", he said.
"In our democracy, opposition parties always plays a constructive role by raising issues pertaining to public issues but in present scenario the ruling party deliberately silencing the voice of opposition parties and not allowing them to raise issues in and outside the Parliament," he added.
Rattan Lal asserted that its the duty of ruling party to run the proceedings of House but the MPs of ruling party were creating ruckus and not allowing the Parliament to run smoothly.
"BJP led centre has drastically failed to come upto the expectations of common man as it is not playing the crucial role for which the people have elected those leading the government today," he said.
"Those who trumpeted 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' are today concerned only for their own vested interests especially electoral gains and have tattered the age old social fabric in the country by creating wedge among communities", he said adding that the people are smart enough and gauging things point by point, and shall teach the lesson to the ruling brigade in the upcoming elections by tormenting the plans of the ruling party in one go.
He appealed to all the leaders of opposition parties to unite under a single platform to save the democracy of the country.
Commenting on J&K, he alleged that the erstwhile state had been undemocratically converted into a Union Territory.
"No elections were conducted in J&K after dissolving its Legislative Assembly despite bounding of holding the same within 6 months", he said adding that those who used to talk about taxes in J&K under the successive regimes day in day out are today imposing taxes (Property Tax) without consulting any of the stakeholders or the public representatives making mockery of those who supported them for making Article 370 redundant.
"It is unfortunate that BJP has deceived people of J&K especially Jammu because its proxy government has failed on all fronts to resolve any of the prevailing issues rather it has creating number of more problems like property tax, unemployment, farmers, traders, daily wagers, civic amenities to the people etc", he said, adding that such phlegmatic approach will cost dearly to the BJP in the upcoming political contests.
