Early Times Report

Akhnoor, Apr 23: The Gujjars and Bakkarwals are one of the most victimized communities of Pakistan’s state sponsored terrorism in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir since the early 90s. The community has suffered at length in terms of precious lives and property at the hands of terrorists supported from across the border. The members of this valiant group have supported the Indian Army in counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations eleventy times with great courage and conviction.
The achievements of this community cannot be over emphasised as they were the mainstay of “Operation Sarpvinash” which drove out the scourge of Pak terrorism from the Pir Panjal Range.
After the cowardly attack by Pak sponsored terrorists on an Indian Army vehicle on 20 Apr 2023 which killed five Indian soldiers, the community has again come forward and expressed its solidarity with the security forces. Mohd Akram, one of the leading members of the Bakkarwal community in Akhnoor expressed his grief over the loss of the bravehearts and condemned the craven action of terrorists during a protest at Kotgarhi village of Akhnoor. He alongwith several other members from the Bakkarwal community in Akhnoor as well as Panchayat members from nearby villages, including Jagdish Raj, Sarpanch, Kot Garhi, expressed their anger over the terrorist actions to propagate fear and distrust in the UT ahead of G20 Summit scheduled in Srinagar and also demonstrated their continuous solidarity with the Indian Army in their actions against the perpetrators.
