GCOE organizes programme on world no tobacco day

JAMMU, May 31: Nasha Mukt Bharat Committee of GCOE Jammu organized an impressive and informative program in collaboration with IQAC, NSS, Nature Club, and DSW on No Tobacco Day under the patronage of Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal GCOE, Jammu. She appreciated the role of the Convener and the students of M.Ed. and B.Ed. who actively participated in the event. She emphasized the need to curb the drug menace, which is like cancer to society.
The introductory note was given by Prof. Shapia Shameem, Convener Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, GCOE Jammu, who discussed the committee's efforts in spreading awareness against drug menace in society. Kaushal Kishore, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, GOI, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Akshat Kant, National Convener of Nasha Mukt Samaj Andolan, Abhiyan Koushal ka, joined the event through video conferencing as the special guest. In his presidential remarks, Kaushal Kishore spoke about the detrimental effects of drug menace on the youth and the illicit drug trade that plagues the country, leading to numerous deaths and adversities. Akshat Kant urged the gathering to take a pledge on this No Tobacco Day.
The program also included a declamation contest on the topic "Say no to drugs." Prizes were distributed among the winners of the declamation contest and the essay writing contest held on 25th May 2023 on the topic "Drug Abuse among youth - Causes and consequences." The event was organized in a blended mode and was joined by GDC Kishtwar under the patronage of Dr. Jyoti Parihar, GDC Chhatroo under the patronage of Dr. Ved Kumar and Dr. Aashiq, GDC Rajouri under the patronage of Dr. Shameem Ahmed Azad, GDC Reasi under the patronage of Dr. Kulvinder Kour, and SPMR College of Commerce under the patronage of NSS PO Prof. Irfan and Yasser Khan, Secretary YLA, High Court Jammu.
Prof. Seema Kumari extended her vote of thanks on the occasion, and the whole program was hosted by Mansi Bandral, Student B.Ed.
