Early Times Report JAMMU, May 31: Suspended during COVID pandemic, the Thoise-Leh IAF flight will resume soon, said a senior administration official of Union Territory of Ladakh. "Civilian travel in IAF flights to Thoise/Leh to recommence for the civilians of Ladakh," Saugat Biswas, Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, tweeted. He further wrote on official Twitter handle that the Defence Ministry on request of UT Administration has conveyed resumption of such air travel on notified fares "Services to Thoise and Leh had been discontinued during COVID pandemic," he tweeted. A long pending demand of the people of Nubra valley gets a leap ahead as the airport at Thoise sanctioned under UDAAN scheme has become functional. A joint survey was conducted by the officials of Indian Airforce, Civil Administration, Defence Estate office and Airport Authority of India to demarcate the land. "Resumption of Thoise IAF flight is a welcome step that would pave ways for a large number of opportunities to the people of Nubra region and would boost the local economy of the region in all the developmental sectors," a local said. |
