EarlY Times Report

Jammu, June 6: Former Chief Minister and chairman of the newly floated Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) is finding it difficult to keep his flock together in his home town Doda as the Congress party is targetting him on his home turf to go defensive.
Despite claiming to have a stronghold in the erstwhile Doda district comprising Doda, Ramban, and Kishtwar districts, Azad’s DPAP is finding is difficult to control leaders as many “staunch” supporters are exploring possibilities to rejoin the Congress party.
On Tuesday, many leaders from the Kahara area of Doda have quitted the DPAP and rejoined the Congress party in the presence of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief, Vikar Rasool Wani.
“Today welcomed scores of DPAP leaders including ward members, sarpanchs, panchs of Khara Block of Doda District into Congress Party under the leadership of Incharge Constituency Doda Sheikh Reyaz Ahmad”, JKPCC chief Vikar Rasool Wani tweeted.
“The new entrants felt inspired by the pro people policies of our Party. I am confident they will do their utmost to serve people of their respective areas with enthusiasm and also work towards further strengthening Congress”, he further said.
Highly placed sources said that it is the strategy of Congress to focus on the Doda district and bring back all party leaders who have joined DPAP.
The prominent leaders who have joined the Congress party are Zaffrullah Magray (Sarpanch Malanoo) DPAP District General Secretary, Haji Rehmtullah RTD TSO (Sarpanch Goila) Block Vice President DPAP, along with 6 Ward Members, Haji Hussain Sarpanch Batogra (Block VP DPAP), Annu Devi Sarpanch Dharuth along with all 7 Ward members, Gh Haider Ward Member, Khair Deen Magray joint Secretary DPAP block Kahara, Mansoor Magray joint Secretary DPAP block Kahara, Zubair Ahmed Member DPAP, Pervaiz Qadir Block General Secretary DAP, Farooq Ahmed Dar Ward Member (DPAP), Daya Singh (DPAP), and Jaffer Hussain Naib Sarpanch DPAP Leader.
Within eight months after its formation, the newly floated Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) is on a disintegration path as one after another leader is deserting the party.
