Delhi Wrestler Sumit Clinches 58th Aghar Jitto Kesari Dangal Title 2023

Katra, June 6: Sumit Gujjar, a wrestler from Guru Hanuman Akhara in Delhi, emerged victorious in the “58th Aghar Jitoo Kesari Dangal title 2023” by defeating Nadeem, a wrestler from Doda, in the first main malli bout that lasted for 12 minutes.
The Aghar Jitoo Kesari Dangal is organized in the village of Aghar Jitto, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, on the final day of the three-day historic Mela held annually in memory of the great revolutionary Farmer Baba Jitto and Bua Kouri.
Abdul Sattar, ADC Reasi, graced the event as the chief guest and presented cash prizes to the wrestlers. Shiv Kumar Sharma, President of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, and Senior Vice President of the Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, presided over the function. Naib Tehsildar Katra Ashok Kumar and Jugal Kishore Sharma (Bunty), a prominent social activist and leading businessman from Delhi, were the guests of honor.
The Dangal was organized by the Aghar Jitoo Dangal Committee in association with the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of former Joint Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
The bouts were officiated by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakari), Om Parkash Verma, Tulinder Kumar, Raj Singh, Pawan Kumar, and Nazir Ahmid.
Wrestler Sumit, the winner of the first malli bout, received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 along with the traditional Gurj (Gadda) and Patta from the chief guest Abdul Sattar, Shiv Kumar Sharma, and Jugal Kishore Sharma (Bunty), while the runner-up wrestler Nadeem received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
In total, 42 bouts were played during the Dangal, and a total of Rs. 2,00,000 was distributed as cash prizes among the wrestlers.
Jugal Kishore Sharma (Bunty) contributed Rs. 30,000 as financial assistance to the organizers, which served as the prize money for the first malli bout. Retired Social Welfare Officer Mohan Lal Kholi contributed Rs. 20,000, serving as the prize money for the second main malli, and Rs. 7,000 was contributed by Tripura Bala Sundrani Maha Durga Vaishno Mandir Aghar Jitoo.
The second main malli bout was won by wrestler Babba of Domana Akhara in Kot Bhawal, Jammu, who defeated wrestler Vishal from Delhi. The winner, Babba, received Rs. 10,000, while the runner-up wrestler Vikas received Rs. 10,000. Another second malli bout was won by wrestler Surjit Singh of J&K Police from Reasi, who defeated wrestler Ankush from Rohtak. Winner wrestler Surjit Singh received Rs. 10,000, while runner-up Ankush received Rs. 8,000.
The third malli bout was won by wrestler Maam Hussain of Domel, who defeated wrestler Ali from Patti, Punjab. The winner wrestler Maam Hussain received Rs. 8,000, while the runner-up wrestler Ali received Rs. 5,000. Members of the Aghar Jitto Dangal Committee, including Baba Mohan
