Early Times Report

Jammu, June 9: A senior official in the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL), who was already under the scanner for “serious misconduct” faces fresh charges over alleged misbehavior with the subordinates as engineers of the department have sought intervention of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha into the complaint.
The Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineers Graduate Association (JKEEGA) has accused the official of use of “unparliamentarily language and use of abusive language against the subordinates.
In a formal handout the JKEEGA said: “On 03.06.2023 (Designation and identity withheld) KPDCL while coming back from Holy Amarnath Ji Cave called the officers of Circle Ganderbal KPDCL and met them at Rayil Pathri District Ganderbal. During the course of discussion (identity withheld) without any reason started abusing Superintending Engineer, Ex. Engineer, AEE and JE’s of Circle ED Ganderbal KPDCL,” the JKEEGA said.
“As per the letter received from officers/officials of Circle Ganderbal KPDCL, (Identity withheld) without any reason used unparliamentary language with abuses hurdled against families of the officials/officers. As reported, the said unfortunate incident happened in front of DC Gandarbal, CEO Shri Amarnath-Ji Shrine Board Staff of KPDCL Ganderbal & Public that had gathered around,” the handout said.
“The said behavior of (identity withheld) is seen as breach of moral as well as official conduct against hard working officers /officials of KPDCL.
The incident has passed all levels of decency and has demoralized the hardworking cadre of Power Development Department who have been working hard to realize smooth and uninterrupted power supply to public of UT of J&K. JKEEGA expresses displeasure and dismay over the behaviour of MD KPDCL who without any reason resorted to unparliamentary language that too publicly against officers / officials of JKPDD which in no way is justified,” the JKEEGA said.
“ JKEEGA requests Hon’ble LG & Worthy Chief Secretary UT of J&K to direct all officers to abstain from using unparliamentary language against on duty officers/officials. Besides also requests Principal Secretary Power to initiate action against (identity withheld) as warranted under rules of so that morale of field engineers of PDD remains in high spirits and such incidents are not repeated in future.”
The official sources in the General Administrative Department said the accused is already facing “serious charges of breach of administrative protocol in a conman case.”
“He is already facing inquiry for putting the administration to serious embarrassment over the serious lapse in connection with a conman case,” said a senior official in the GAD on the condition of anonymity.
The official said the fresh complaint about alleged misconduct of the said official has come to their notice. Despite repeated attempts the official facing charges couldn’t be contacted for comments.
