Champions of month honored in Tawi Trekkers’ Sport Climbing Competitions

Jammu, July 2: The Sunday Series of Sport Climbing Competitions organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K celebrated the “Champions of the Month” in a simple ceremony held during the 5th round of the competition at Sprawling Buds ICSE School in Bantalab, Jammu.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Chairman Team Jammu and President of Mountaineering Association of J&K, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Alongside Ram Khajuria and Shawetica Khajuria, President and General Secretary of the club, and Vishal Shoor, SDPO Damana, Jammu, he presented gifts to the winners.
Prarna Charak from Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu, emerged as the “Champion of the Month” in the Women’s category, having secured the first position in all four rounds of the Sunday Series of Sport Climbing Competitions held in June. Aryan Rauthan from Army Public School, Damana, claimed the title of “Champion of the Month” in the Sub Junior Boys category after securing the top position in the first three rounds and second position in the fourth round.
In the Mini Boys category, Vidur Shoor from G D Goenka Public School Jammu was declared the “Champion of the Month” with 365 points, having secured the first position in the first three rounds and the third position in the fourth round. Herman Samotra and Manya Verma, both from Sprawling Buds ICSE School, won the prestigious title of “Champion of the Month” in the Junior Boys and Mini Girls category respectively by collecting the maximum points in the four rounds of the competition.
Meetali Khajuria from St. Xavier Convent Sr. Secondary School and Jeevika from Sprawling Buds ICSE School were declared the “Champions of the Month” in the Junior Girls and Sub Junior Girls categories, respectively, after the fourth round of the competition, where there was not much competition.
The second and third position holders in all categories were also honored during the ceremony.
The 5th round of the Sunday Series of Sport Climbing Competitions took place under the overall supervision of Sumit Khajuria, Vice President of Mountaineering Association of J&K. Technical guidance was provided by Shivani Charak and Arun Deep Singh, both international climbers.
The competition’s overall results were in line with expectations, with Prarna Charak leading in the women’s category, Deepak Singh and Jeevika Verma winning in the Sub Junior Boys and Sub Junior Girls categories, respectively. Other winners included Ayaana Bhagat in the Mini Girls category, Harshveer Singh in the Mini Boys category, Meetali Khajuria in the Junior Girls category, and Saksham Slathia in the Junior Boys category.
It should be noted that participants in the Sunday Series of Sport Climbing Competitions are ranked based on points gained at each competition. The “Champion of the Month” is declared after every four rounds, providing climbers with ample preparation for the upcoming zonal championship and facilitating their selection for the Inter Zonal Championship.
