APS organizes an informative session on 'Smiling Depression'

JAMMU, July 8: APS Damana successfully organized an exquisitive session on the topic of "Smiling Depression" on July 8, 2023, at the Multipurpose Hall of the school. The esteemed chief guest for the occasion was Cdr 19 Inf Bde, Chairman of Army Public School Damana. The event witnessed the presence of Pushpinder Kaur, Principal of APS Damana, CO 18 SIKH LI, SO School, officers, ladies, parents, and students from Classes VIII to XII. The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, School Principal, and Vice Principal.
The insightful session was conducted by Madhur Uppal, the school counselor. The event comprised three sessions, each catering to different audiences. The first session focused on students, the second session was for parents, and the third session brought together both parents and students to foster a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The primary objective of organizing this session was to help students, parents, and the wider community identify and understand the signs and symptoms of this hidden form of depression. Parents and students actively participated and interacted with the resource person. Feedback forms were provided to parents and students to gather insights about the session.
In his address, the Chief Guest acknowledged the widespread prevalence of smiling depression and emphasized the importance of breaking the silence surrounding this issue. Ghina Vivek Puri, Chairperson of FWO 19 Inf Bde, also interacted through a digital platform, urging the audience to actively promote mental well-being and create an environment that encourages open discussions and support for those struggling with smiling depression.
A vote of thanks was extended by Gaytri Singh and Harshit Pal Singh of Class X to all the attendees, participants, and contributors who made the session a resounding success. The event concluded on a patriotic note, with the recitation of the national anthem, followed by light refreshments for all the attendees.
