Forgery Case: Court reserves order on bail plea of GMC Principal
7/8/2023 11:17:50 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 8: The Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Tahir Khurshid Raina, has reserved the order on the pre-arrest bail application of Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal of Government Medical College Jammu. The case pertains to allegations of forging her date of birth.
The Crime Branch initiated an enquiry based on a written complaint filed by Manu Gupta, alleging that Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma tampered with her age documents to gain an unfair advantage in securing admission to the MBBS course at GMC Jammu. The enquiry revealed that she had two dates of birth, 08-04-1964 and 08-04-1965, and had cheated the government by forging and tampering with her date of birth. It was discovered that she had initially submitted her matriculation diploma with the DOB as 08-04-1964, but later applied for a correction to change it to 08-04-1965. However, she reverted to her original DOB to claim certain benefits.
Further investigation revealed that she knowingly claimed her DOB as 08-04-1965 when getting appointed as an Assistant Surgeon in 1988 and also tampered with her DOB on PAN Card and Aadhaar Card. A case has been registered against Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma in Police Station EOW Crime Branch Jammu.
On July 6, 2023, the Special Judge Anticorruption granted two days interim bail to Principal GMC, with certain conditions. Today, after hearing arguments from Sr. Advocate Pranav Kohli for the applicant, the Special Judge T.K. Raina reserved the bail application for orders.
