‘PM Modi’s charisma can dominate LS polls in J&K’
7/11/2023 10:46:22 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 11: In run upto Lok Sabha polls, political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have started the process to reach out to the electorate.
Pertinently, during the past few days all the major political parties, including BJP, National Conference, Congress, PDP, Apni Party, Peoples Conference and others have held series of meetings with their workers and leaders to frame a strategy.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “All the political parties in J&K are aware of the fact that the LS polls results will reflect how these formations will perform in the assembly elections.”
He said, “Politicians are aware of the fact that BJP has an edge in Lok Sabha polls as people in the past two elections in Jammu region have voted for PM Modi. This fact can neither be discounted nor denied.”
The analyst said, “For Kashmir based parties the forthcoming Parliamentary elections are a litmus test. These parties after the abrogation of Article 370 have not been able to strike a chord with people. All their slogans and narratives stand punctured.”
It’s in place to mention here that when Article 370 was revoked most of the Kashmir based parties had announced that they would not sit till they get back what “J&K has lost” but their slogans had no takers. “As of date these parties are not even demanding the restoration of J&K’s statehood. They just want elections to be held with or without statehood,” said an observer.
He said, “Leaders of most Kashmir based parties are trying to coin new slogans but they are aware that it won’t be easy for any political formation to challenge PM Modi factor at least in Lok Sabha polls.”
“The BJP leaders in J&K know very well that more than anything else it’s PM Modi’s charisma which has helped them and they are trying their best to utilize it,” the observer added.
