Reasi Police cracks down on illegal mining activities, seizes vehicles, makes arrests

REASI, July 19: Reasi Police has taken decisive action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities, resulting in the seizure of several vehicles and the arrest of two suspects. The crackdown came after a complaint was received regarding the theft of mining material in the Anji Khad area of Block No. 06. Promptly responding to the complaint, a team from Reasi Police apprehended two individuals at the scene and recovered a dumper, registered as JK20 B 1837, loaded with stolen mining material. A First Information Report (FIR) bearing number 146/2023 under sections 379 IPC and ¾ PDPP Act has been lodged at the Reasi Police Station. In separate incidents, the team at PP Dera Baba seized an unregistered trolley, with registration number JK02CX7263, containing illegal mining material at Balini Nallah. Additionally, the team at P/S Arnas seized a tractor trolley without registration, also carrying illegal mining material, near the bank of River Chenab. Furthermore, a team from P/S Katra confiscated five dumpers with the registration numbers JK14H-1155, JK14T-1155, JK14C-9367, JK14H-9755, and JK20B-8989 for violating mining norms. Similarly, a team from P/S Mahore seized two dumpers, with the registration numbers JK20B-4106 and JK11F-3351, which were transporting illegal mining material. The general public in the area has expressed appreciation for the efforts of the police in apprehending individuals involved in illegal mining. The arrests were made by SHO P/S Reasi Vijay Sharma, under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs. Reasi Neeraj Padyar- JKPS. SSP Reasi Amit Gupta - JKPS emphasized that Reasi Police is dedicated to safeguarding the interests of the general public and the government. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found engaging in illegal activities, in accordance with the relevant laws.
