Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, July 31: Government Degree College, Vijaypur, took a firm stand against substance abuse by organizing a series of impactful activities under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, Mission LiFE, and G20. The NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of the college, in collaboration with the Red Ribbon Club, conducted these events on the college campus to raise awareness among students about the detrimental effects of drugs on human lives.
The College Principal, Dr. Vandana Gupta, along with teachers and staff, addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of creating awareness about substance abuse. To solidify their commitment to the cause, an anti-drug pledge was administered to all the students and staff members. The pledge solemnly vowed to stand united with the Government in its fight against the usage, consumption, and manufacturing of illegal narcotic substances, and to contribute dedicatedly to the growth and welfare of Jammu and Kashmir and its people.
During the event, a thought-provoking documentary was screened, shedding light on the importance of treating individuals who use drugs with dignity and respect. It further emphasized the significance of prevention through education and awareness-raising, aiming to deter drug use among the youth.
The activities were skillfully coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma (Convenor NSS) and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO), alongside the co-coordination efforts of Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convenor Red Ribbon Club) and Prof. Anil Bhagat (HoD Commerce). Their collective dedication and organization contributed to the success of the awareness campaign.
As a token of appreciation and encouragement, refreshments were provided to all the enthusiastic participants, further fostering a sense of camaraderie and support for the cause.
With such initiatives, Government Degree College Vijaypur continues to play a vital role in nurturing socially responsible citizens and fostering a drug-free environment. By actively participating in Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the college stands at the forefront of the fight against substance abuse, paving the way for a healthier and brighter future for its students and the community at large.
