NC holds protests near PDP foundation day rally
Hum Bhi Kisse Se Kam Nahi!

Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 31 : Even as the Peoples Democratic Party was holding its scheduled foundation day rally at the SK Park in Srinagar on July 31, rival National Conference held a parallel event near the PDP venue.
While the former Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti was holding a rally of the party’s foundation day, the woman wing of the NC held a protest demonstration on the nearby road.
The NC Women’s Wing led by its State President Shamim Firdous along with Provincial President Women’s Wing Sabiha Qadri “led a peaceful protest on the reported missing of 10 thousand Kashmiri girls.”
“The protestors who were stopped by Police from moving towards TRC junction Srinagar demanded answers from J&K administration. Women’s Wing functionaries, District Presidents, were part of the protest,” the NC said.
The TRC crossing is at a stone’s throw from the SK Park where the PDP rally was being held.
Interestingly, even the timings of the parallel events clashed.
The PDP President presided over the 24th Foundation Day of the party at SK Park, Srinagar. As per the PDP, “thousands of party workers attended the event and expressed their resolute faith in the agenda and the leadership of the party.”
Observers said by holding protest demonstrations near the PDP rally venue, the NC has shown that all is not well between the two parties.
“Why was NC so desperate to hold a protest exactly when PDP was holding its event?” asked an observer adding “It’s enough to explain that the relationship between the two parties is not good.”
Last week, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that 9765 girls (below the age of 18 years) and women (above the age of 18 years) have gone missing in Jammu and Kashmir from 2019 to 2021.
This was stated by the Minister of State (MoS) Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra in a written reply to a query raised by Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Dr Fauzia Khan regarding the reports of missing women in the Country. Dr Fauzia had asked whether the government was taking cognizance of reports of all missing girls and women
