JAMMU, July 31: The Eco-Club 'Tawishi' at Government College for Women (GCW), Bhagwati Nagar, observed a meaningful "Angdaan Mahotsav" on July 31st, contributing to the awareness campaign initiated by the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), established by the Government of India. The event aimed to raise awareness about the significance of Organ and Tissue donation, fostering a compassionate and altruistic community.
As part of the commemoration, GCW Bhagwati Nagar organized a poster cum slogan writing competition, which saw the enthusiastic participation of around 20 students. These talented students skillfully depicted the theme of organ and tissue donation through beautiful and thought-provoking posters, inspiring everyone to contribute to this noble cause.
During the event, a pledge for organ and tissue donation was taken by the college's principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol, along with the staff and students. This pledge symbolized their commitment to promote and support organ donation and urged them to spread awareness to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding the concept.
Dr. Meeru Abrol, the college principal, emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about organ and tissue donation. She urged everyone to debunk myths and misconceptions related to organ donation and take steps to encourage citizens to consider donating their organs and tissues after death. The aim was to inculcate the value of organ donation in the lives of people, fostering a culture of compassion and giving.
The activities for "Angdaan Mahotsav" were meticulously organized by Dr. Mosmi Raina, the Convenor of the Eco-Club. Her dedication and efforts played a crucial role in making the event a success, helping to sensitize the college community about the life-changing impact of organ and tissue donation.
