Samba, July 31: In a significant development, Samba police has taken a major step towards seeking justice by presenting a challan in the court of law against nine criminals involved in an attack on police personnel in December 2022 at Rajpura, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal, District Samba.
The accused individuals, identified as Shav Ali alias Gagu, Mohd Sadiq alias Shikhu, Sadiq Ali, Maskeen Ali alias Jattu, Makhan Din, Zahoor, Mohd Sharief, Roshan Bibi, and Moju, were proven guilty by the police for their involvement in the attack. On the unfortunate incident’s date, these criminals, who were also involved in bovine smuggling, launched a violent assault on the police party of Police Post Rajpura while they were on patrolling duties. As a result, one Head Constable suffered severe head injuries and required nine stitches, necessitating hospitalization.
Following the incident, a case was registered at Police Station Ghagwal under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police conducted a thorough and professional investigation, leading to the successful presentation of the challan in court for judicial determination.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, emphasized the police’s commitment to prioritize and expedite investigations, especially in cases where police personnel are attacked while performing their patrolling duties. He highlighted that the police are working diligently to arrest the perpetrators and present proper challans following due legal procedures.
This development showcases the dedication of Samba police in seeking justice for their colleagues and upholding the law, sending a strong message that any attack on police personnel will not go unpunished.
The timely action of presenting the challan in court reflects the department’s determination to uphold the rule of law and protect those who serve to maintain public safety.
