Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 6: An emergency meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of Ganesh Khajuria, JKTF Chairman, at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The primary objective of the meeting was to intensify the ongoing struggle for the scrapping of the National Pension System (NPS) and the early restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The meeting saw the participation of central Executive Members from Provincial, District, and Zonal bodies.
During the meeting, various speakers lauded the relentless and sincere efforts of Ganesh Khujuria, the National Executive Member of the steering Committee of NJCA from Jammu and Kashmir UT. He has been at the forefront, leading the movement for the rights of employees covered under NPS.
The participants unanimously emphasized the urgent need for the scrapping of NPS and the implementation of the defined Old Pension Scheme, which guarantees social security to retirees.
In his speech, Ganesh Khajuria asserted that unity, dedication, and missionary zeal among employees should be the utmost priority for the success of any struggle, regardless of their cadres.
He further emphasized that pension is not a bounty or a matter of grace at the employer's discretion but a fundamental right of the employees. It is a social welfare measure that ensures socio-economic justice to those who dedicated their prime years to tirelessly serve their employers with the assurance of a secure old age.
Ganesh Khujuria appealed to both the union and state governments to withdraw the National Pension System and bring all employees under the coverage of the Old Pension and CCS (Pension) Rules 1972. He also urged for the implementation of the GPF Scheme, depositing the accumulated employees' contributions along with their returns to the GPF accounts.
Other speakers at the meeting, including Surat Singh Toofani, Darshan Sharma, Kuldeep Singh Bandral, and Bharat Bushan Sharma, expressed their support for the cause and highlighted the significance of securing the employees' future through a robust pension system.
