Omar gives a miss to NC claims on clampdown
8/6/2023 11:00:40 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 6: Even as the National Conference claimed that its office was sealed on August 5, the party Vice-President, Omar Abdullah gave a miss to the party complaints.
Sources said throughout the day on August 5, the NC leaders were expecting that Omar would react to the alleged sealing of the NC office by the Police. The National Conference had said that “True to form and in keeping with the clampdown on mainstream democratic activities organised by parties opposed to 5th Aug 2019, the JKNC office has been sealed by the police. No one is being allowed in or out of the office. These steps betray the nervousness of the administration & render hollow their claims regarding great improvements in the last 4 years.”
Source said the NC leaders were expecting till late at night that Omar, who is even active on social media, would raise voice on the issue. But the sources said he didn’t utter a word about the issue on his personal social media handle.
Interestingly while many of the NC leaders posted on their social media handles that their office had been sealed, Omar’s social media handle joined a trend to pay tributes to an iconic businessman.
Observers said Omar remaining silent on the NC issue has a message that the party is “realigning its policies.” “If Omar could get into discussion on JRD…, why did he give a miss to the issue of his own party, his fellow politicians? This means something is cooking and NC is on a new alignment of its policies,” said an observer.
It’s pertinent to mention that its rivals in politics are accusing the NC of improving ties with the BJP.
Some of the politicians including Peoples Conference chief Sajad Lone have been saying that NC and BJP could form next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
