Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 6: Natrang, a renowned theater group, presented 'Papa Jab Bachhe Thhey,' a heartwarming play in Hindi, as part of its weekly theater series, Sunday Theatre, at its Studio Theatre located in Kachi Chawni, Jammu. The play, adapted and directed by Neeraj Kant, was based on the short story "When Daddy Was A Little Boy" by the Russian writer and poet Alexander Raskin. The publicity of the play was designed by Vanshika Pandoh.
The play revolves around the endearing bond between a father and his daughter. The daughter learns that her father was once a little boy, and as she falls ill, her father shares a story from his childhood with her.
The story beautifully portrays the evolution of human thinking and its changing thoughts. It emphasizes the significance of humanity and the essence of being a compassionate human being.
The play commences with the daughter narrating her father's story, while the actors bring the tale to life on stage. The story begins with a child being asked about his aspirations for the future. At different instances, he expresses his desires to become a watchman, an ice cream seller, a shunting man at the railway station, a pilot, an actor, and even a shepherd running after cows. Each day brings a new aspiration, leading to laughter from others around him.
However, the turning point comes when the child, inspired by his pet dog, decides he wants to become a dog and begins to mimic its actions. A soldier questions his choice, and the child admits that he has been changing his mind frequently but now desires to be a dog. When the soldier asks if he knows what a human is, the child responds negatively. This realization prompts the child to understand that he cannot change his mind every day and, ultimately, acknowledges that his primary aspiration is to be a good human being.
The young artists of Natrang who performed in the play included Sanket Bhagat, Abir Beri, Advik Sharma, Mehak Chib, Sanchi Dutta, Sonali Sharma, and Priyal Gupta. The lighting design and execution were done by Neeraj Kant, and the music was rendered by Chirag Anand. Brijesh Avtar Sharma presented the play, and Mohd. Yaseen coordinated the show.
'Papa Jab Bachhe Thhey' touched the hearts of the audience with its heartfelt storytelling and powerful message about the importance of humanity and compassion. The young talents of Natrang showcased their remarkable acting skills, making the play a memorable and thought-provoking experience for all attendees.
