8/6/2023 10:19:35 PM
Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, raised serious concern over the lack of visible change in Jammu and Kashmir after repealing Article 370 from the erstwhile state.
These remarks were made during a meeting of the party’s cadre in the district of Udhampur Urban which was convened under the chairmanship of Sunil Verma, District President of Udhampur.
The Provincial President, while addressing the meeting, highlighted that the proxy governance currently in place is unable to resolve the basic issues faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that the problems of the general public have only multiplied in the absence of a popularly elected government.
Gupta stated that the claims of development made on paper have not been reflected on the ground.
The scarcity of drinking water, irregular power supply, non-availability of government ration, and inadequate healthcare facilities in rural and far-flung areas have deeply impacted the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He criticized the lack of accessibility to officials for resolving basic issues, leaving the citizens helpless.
Earlier, Sunil Verma, District President of Udhampur, apprised the senior functionaries of the National Conference of the various problems faced by the people of the district.
He highlighted issues such as the blocked Ramgarh Basantgarh road, the dilapidated condition of the Chenani-Latti-Dudu road and Udhampur to Pancheri road, and the absence of medical facilities in far-flung areas like Chenani, Latti-Dudu, and Pancheri.
The Provincial President expressed his disappointment with the tall claims of development made by the LG Administration, considering the prevailing issues in Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon the people of Udhampur district to support the National Conference for equitable development of the region in the ensuing elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also asked the party workers to gearup for upcoming ULB and PAnchayat Polls and ensure the victory of Party in the general interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary of the National Conference, urged the people to support the National Conference, as they believe it is the only party that can fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for a brighter future. He said the National Conference strives to address the concerns and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and work towards equitable development and progress.
Pardeep Bali, Secretary of the National Conference, criticized the present dispensation for the high levels of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir and the lack of adequate steps taken to address the issue.
Vijay Lochan, Provincial President of the SC Cell of the National Conference, highlighted that 45 percent of the ST/SC population in Jammu and Kashmir continues to suffer due to the lack of basic amenities such as drinking water and regular power supply.
Later, impressed by the policies and programmes of National Conference, several people joined the party fold which include Amarnath, Ex Capt Madan Lal, Sub Retd Moti Ram, Hav Rajesh Parihar, Ch Billa Panch, Pritam Singh, Raj Pant, Som Raj Sharma and Jai Dev Singh.
Among those who were present include Capt Pavittar Singh, KD Sharma, Capt Balbir Singh, Dil Mohammad, AnayatUllah Savitri Devi, Sunita Mehra, Ratnu Devi, Karan Singh
