JAMMU, Aug 23: On August 23rd, a career counselling workshop titled "Plan your future" was organized by the Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning at the University of Jammu. The workshop took place for the students of Govt. Degree College, Kunjwani.
The workshop was inaugurated by the college's principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo. In his opening address, Dr. Tickoo emphasized the importance of career counselling programs for students, particularly at the college level, given the current scenario of limited job opportunities. He noted that such workshops not only help students become independent thinkers but also encourage them to plan for self-employment. He appreciated the efforts of the Department of Lifelong Learning in arranging this workshop for the students.
The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, the Director of the Department of Lifelong Learning at the University of Jammu. The workshop featured special resource persons including Dr. Shallu Sehgal, Dr. Neetu Dhar, and Dr. Rewa Khajuria.
Dr. Shallu Sehgal's presentation focused on Entrepreneurship growth and Competitiveness. She provided insights into startup initiatives and various schemes available to aspiring entrepreneurs. Dr. Neetu Dhar's presentation delved into effective communication strategies and highlighted key points for successful interviews, including the importance of body language. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, a Counsellor from EIAB, DLL, JU, discussed crucial steps in career selection.
The workshop was attended by around 79 students. Dr. Arti Gupta, the Convenor of the Career Counselling Cell at the college, coordinated the workshop's activities. Prof. Aashiq Hussain managed the proceedings of the event, and Prof. Bushra Nizami extended the formal vote of thanks.
Overall, the workshop aimed to equip students with valuable insights and skills to plan their career paths effectively, considering both employment opportunities and self-employment options.
