Netizens slam former DGP Vaid’s meme on Chandrayaan
8/24/2023 12:06:14 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 23: Jammu and Kashmir’s former DGP SP Vaid has sparked a row with his post on X (formerly Twitter) on Chandrayaan-3 mission of India. The ex-DGP posted a meme on Chandrayaan which read, “First image sent by Chandrayaan after entering the orbit: this land belongs to Waqf Board’.
Many netizens viewed the meme as communal and a bid to target one particular community.
A netizen Shams Ur Rehman Alavi wrote: “Good whenever someone finally realises that a certain property is Waqf land.
The way people give their land for a noble purpose, to benefit the widow, destitute, poor or orphan, it is exceptional piety that many have lesa eye. Land encroachers, grabbers can’t appreciate it.” PDP spokesman Mohit Bhan wrote: “For those who don’t understand Hindi, the former DGP is taking pot shot on Waqf Board, which manages Muslim shrines as illegal occupiers of land on the moon.”
Another netizen wrote: “This man is a former DGP of J&K, what are your thoughts?”
“He is the former DGP of J&K. This is the hate he spews when HE IS NOT A CIVIL SERVANT. Imagine what he would have done during his tenure as our CIVIL SERVANT,” wrote another netizen. “Such noble thoughts from a former DGP,” “Speechless,” wrote the netizens.
“Many look up to him as a role model. Don’t know why such a tweet. @IPS Association must take some initiative that equity of brand IPS is not diluted,” wrote another netizen. “Can you imagine what he would have done during his tenure,” “Tweet aisi karo ki 4 log bolein app ex-DGP hain ya 2 rupees troll,” the netizens wrote.
Meanwhile, India scripted history on Wednesday evening with the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon’s surface.
The Chandrayaan-3 lander successfully touched down on the moon’s south pole, thought to be a potential source for water and oxygen, days after Russia’s mission failed. The Indian space agency - ISRO - launched the rocket on July 14 this year blasting off from the country’s main spaceport in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
