Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 23: Youth Shiv Sena Hindustan Activists led by J&K UT President Ganesh Choudhary today held strong protest against arrest of Yuva Rajput Sabha leaders and abolition of Sarore Toll Plaza demanding release of YRS leaders. Speaking on the occasion, Choudhary demanded that the toll plazas at Sarore and Lakhanpur on the highway should be wound up. He said the highway is badly damaged and a portion of a bridge has sunk due to floods as a result of which truckers and motorists had to take a lengthy route and as such there was no justification in charging toll tax by the NHAI. Choudhary said, "Toll is paid for maintenance of road but when the connectivity is worst, why it has to be paid. The government should immediately suspend it, said Choudhary."
Choudhary claimed that to protest peacefully and democratically is the fundamental right of every citizen. Despite requesting the authorities to keep in abeyance the toll tax being collected at Sarore till the damaged bridge of Tarnah Nalah on National Highway is completely restored but LG Administration remains adamant as if it has no concern for public sufferings. Choudhary urged the LG Administration to release the arrested activists of Yuva Rajput Saba forthwith and suspend the toll plaza till the National Highway is completely constructed and made fully operational.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include District President Samba Nek Ram, Bari Brahmin President Sanjeev Kumar, Jammu District Raj Kumar Gupta, Pushan Kumar, Shankar Singh, Vikas, Ajay Kumar, Bharat Bushan, Sanjay Kumar, Pritam Chand, Balbir Kumar, Sukdev Singh, Surinder Chowdhary, Lucky Kumar Mohd Hanif, Sonia Chowdhary, Sunita Devi, Reena Kumari, Suman Kumari, Santosh Devi, Santosh Devi besides others. The aggrieved residents said that they cannot afford inflated bills generated by Smart Meters. Earlier scores of locals, mostly women, assembled on National Highway against the move to install smart meters in the area.
