Nasha Mukti Abhiyan: Reasi Police seizes heroin, arrests two drug smugglers

Reasi, Nov 18: In its ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse within the district, Reasi Police, as part of the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan, successfully recovered approximately 9.7 grams of Heroin (Chitta) during a routine Naka/Patrolling duty at Domail area, Police Station Pouni. The interception involved a Hyundai Eon Car with registration number JK02AW-0113, driven by Ankush Kumar and co-driven by Gaylord Sharma, both residents of Sunderbani, District Rajouri. Upon inspection, a stash of Heroin, wrapped inside white polythene, was found hidden in the car’s dashboard. The seized narcotic substance and the two individuals were taken into custody by PSI Narinder Singh from ICPP Bhambla. A case under FIR No. 73/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pouni, and further investigations are underway.
SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta, emphasized the commitment of Reasi Police to eradicate drug abuse. He urged the public to support their efforts in the fight against drugs and shared that, during the current year, 60 FIRs have been lodged against drug peddlers, and four PITNDPS (Preventive Action under the NDPS Act) have been carried out.
The district police encourages the public to share any information related to drug peddlers through the 24x7 helpline number 9070907017, ensuring the caller’s identity remains confidential.
