Jamaat always voted for PDP but they jailed their leaders, killed commanders: Altaf Bukhari
‘Fought for Mirwaiz’s release, trying to get Er Rasheed out of jail’

Early Times Report

Anantnag, Nov 18: President of Apni Party Altaf Bukhari on Saturday claimed that Peoples Democratic Party formed by Jamaat-i-Islami.
Talking to reporters after addressing a party convention here in South Kashmir, Bukhari said, “PDP reached the power on the shoulders of Jamaat-I-Islami. The Jamaat cadres always voted for PDP.” But he was quick to add, “PDP jailed Jamaat activists and killed their commanders. If someone is trying to get their children released now it’s hurting them.”
He said, “There is no difference between BJP and Congress. The BJP revoked Article 370 and Congress voted in favour of its abrogation. Here a wrong notion has been created that the Congress Party is a saint and BJP is untouchable.” “From day one we have said that only the Supreme Court can give Article 370 back.
In DDC elections NC, PDP asked people to vote for them and they will get Article 370 back but it was just a slogan raised to mislead the people,” Bukhari said. “I hope Supreme Court Judges give their decision as per the wishes of J&K people.”
Replying to a query about detained former MLA, Er Rasheed, Bukhari said, “We are trying to seek his release like other innocent people who are in jail. Er Rasheed is also innocent.”
He termed the speculations about Er Rasheed joining Apni Party after his release baseless and said, “He (Er Rasheed) has no such plans.” Bukhari said, “His party fought for everyone’s release including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.”
