Special Summary revision awareness camp held in Poonch

POONCH, Nov 25: District Election Department Poonch, under the aegis of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Yasin M. Choudhary conducted a Special Summary Revision Awareness Camp at Degree College Poonch, the other day.
The camp was aimed to create awareness and to ensure 100% registration of students studying in different institutions who have attained the age of 18 as on 01-01-2024, 1st July 2024 and 1st October 2024.
In this connection, the AERO Ayaz Ahmed Butt (BDO Lassana) visited Government Degree College Poonch and ITI Poonch along with BLOs of different Polling stations and imparted awareness to the students and registered eligible voters on the spot.
While addressing the audience, the AERO emphasized on the significance of citizen participation in the democratic process. He said that the right to vote empowers us to participate and impact policies of the govt. This is the most powerful weapon in our hands in a democracy. These camps are aimed to enhance awareness among the students regarding the importance of voter registration and the ongoing summary revision process.
Registration Camps for on-the-spot registration of eligible youth were also conducted at ITI Campus. The registration forms were distributed and filled-in forms were received from the eligible voters
The camps provided a platform to youth an citizens to enroll, verify and update their voter information, ensuring that the electoral rolls reflect their recent and accurate details. Electoral officials, EROs/ AEROs were present to assist individuals in completing the necessary Forms, addressing queries and facilitating the registration process.
Similar Awareness camps will be held across District in different government institutions covering all the Assembly Constituencies.
The officials conducting these camps urged the residents to actively engage in this initiative, contributing to the strengthening of the democratic foundation.
The day long camp was organised in collaboration with Degree College Poonch.
Prof. Ghulam Abbas (Vice Principal GDC Poonch), Prof. Mohd Akram (Incharge SVEEP at GDC Poonch) and other staff members facilitated the smooth and successful conduct of the program.
