DLSA Samba organises students’ awareness program on POCSO Act

SAMBA, Nov 28: District Legal Services Authority Samba organized a Legal Awareness Program on “Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) and Information Technology Act, 2000” here at M.V International School. The awareness event was organized under the aegis of JKLSA and under the insightful directions and guidance of Yesh Pal Kotwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Samba (also Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba) and Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary DLSA. The programme was inaugurated by Yesh Pal Kotwal, the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Samba (also Principal District and Sessions Judge Samba) with the lighting of Ceremonial lamp. In his special address Yesh Pal Kotwal explained as to how we can protect children below 18 years of age from Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Gratification, Pornography etc as defined in the POCSO Act, 2012.
The Chief Guest also stressed that as responsible citizens it is our duty to educate our children about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) and Information Technology Act, 2000 so that the children can further share this information to other people/stakeholders. He also shared some websites with the student participants like www.ceir.gov.in; www.imei.info; www.haveibeenpwned.com, TAFCOP APP etc where from that can learn about the protection against Cyber crimes. Tania Pargal and Hitesh Sharma, Panel Lawyers, DLSA Samba were the speakers who shared their knowledge on the subject through power point presentations.
The program witnessed the presence of Mandeep Sambyal, President Bar Association Samba, Aman Singh, Joint Secretary Bar Association Samba, Chairman, Director and Principal of M.V International School Samba, Students and staff members of the of the M.V International School and PLVs of DLSA Samba. During the program, students of the school displayed their talent who were felicitated by the Chief Guest of the program.
