Early Times Report RS PURA, Nov 29: In a proactive move towards enhancing electoral literacy, the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) at Govt. Degree College R.S. Pura organized a Voter's Awareness and Registration Camp in collaboration with the office of the Electoral Registration Officer. The event, held under the patronage of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Rajni Bhagat, and supervised by Dr. Rakesh Choudhary, Convener of ELC and Head of the Department of Political Science, aimed at conducting a special summary revision of Photo Electoral Rolls. Sumit Sharma, CDPO Satwari, who serves as the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) in the Election Cell, Jammu, along with officials from the Election Cell R.S. Pura, visited the college during the camp. They actively engaged with the students, providing valuable insights into the electoral process and encouraging new voter registrations. During the camp, students were informed about the significance of various forms such as Form 6, 7, 8, and 8A, which deal with processes like fresh registration, deletion, correction, and transposition of entries in the electoral roll. The camp proved to be a platform for more than 100 students to apply for fresh registration, demonstrating a commendable enthusiasm among the youth to actively participate in the democratic process. Notably, students without Voter Identity cards seized the opportunity to fill Form 6, which were then submitted to the concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for further processing in the registration procedure. Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Prof. Sankait Gupta, and Prof. Sunil Kumar, along with Dr. Shaveta Chowdhary, were present at the event, contributing to its success. The initiative not only facilitated the registration of new voters but also served as an educational platform to impart essential knowledge about electoral processes.
