SAMBA, Nov 29: In a demonstration of its commitment to democratic principles, the administration of Govt. Degree College (GDC) Samba recently conducted elections to elect class representatives for both semester I and semester III. The process, aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility and fostering democratic values among students, unfolded with nominations from each class/section, followed by the election of representatives through a secret ballot.
A total of twenty class representatives were elected, reflecting the diverse and vibrant student body of GDC Samba. The annual election event is a testament to the college's dedication to upholding democratic ideals as enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
Emphasizing the importance of holistic development, Dr. Twinkle Suri, the Principal of the college, felicitated each newly elected class representative with a Sash and a Badge. This symbolic gesture is intended to provide a distinct identity to the student representatives who will play a pivotal role in the college's activities.
Dr. Suri urged the representatives to contribute to maintaining a vibrant campus culture and instilled in them a sense of ownership for the college. She highlighted the significance of students excelling not only in academics but also in diverse fields, emphasizing that democracy fosters responsible and informed citizenship crucial for national growth.
The college campus buzzed with enthusiasm and youthful fervor during the elections, with many students casting their votes for the first time. The entire electoral process was meticulously organized under the supervision of the student welfare committee, led by Prof. Shoba Gupta.
