Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 11: In a press conference held at the party state office in Jammu, Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit expressed its welcome for the Hon’ble High Court’s decision to uphold the Central Government’s removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. State Chief Manish Sahni conveyed the party’s hopes for the prompt restoration of statehood and the initiation of a democratic process in the region.
• Shiv Sena (UBT) applauds the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s decision on Article 370, considering it a definitive resolution to various speculations.
• Calls for immediate elections in Jammu and Kashmir as per the court’s directive and urges the swift reinstatement of statehood.
• Advocates for special privileges for Jammu and Kashmir under Article 371, similar to those granted to border and north-eastern states, given the region’s prolonged struggle against terrorism for the last 35 years.
During the press conference, Manish Sahni, the state chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed the party’s commitment to continuing the struggle for privileges that benefit the local population. He emphasized the importance of addressing the unique challenges faced by Jammu and Kashmir as a border state with a long history of grappling with terrorism.
Sahni specifically called for the extension of special privileges under Article 371, drawing parallels with the provisions granted to border and north-eastern states. This, he believes, would recognize and address the distinct circumstances faced by Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the need for unique considerations in the state’s development and governance.
As the political landscape evolves following the legal decisions on Article 370, Shiv Sena (UBT) asserts its stance on ensuring the timely restoration of statehood, the democratic process, and the pursuit of special privileges for the betterment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
