DGP inaugurates free cancer screening, health checkup camp

JAMMU, Feb 3: In commemoration of World Cancer Day, the American Oncology Institute (AOI), Jammu, in collaboration with Police Hospital Jammu, conducted a Free Cancer Screening and Awareness Camp at DPL Jammu. The event, inaugurated by R.R.Swain, IPS (Director General Police J&K), witnessed the screening and examination of more than 400 patients. The inaugural ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including A.K.Choudhary, IPS (Special DG Crime J&K), M.K.Sinha, IPS (ADGP HQRS/Coordination PHQ J&K), Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS (IGP HQRS/Tech PHQ J&K), and Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal, Medical Superintendent of Police Hospital Jammu. A team of medical experts from AOI Jammu, including Dr. Deepak Abrol (Sr. Consultant Radiation Oncology), Dr. Satyanker Gupta (Sr. Consultant Medical Oncology), and Dr. Surbhi Kudyar (Associate Consultant Breast Oncology), conducted screenings and examinations during the camp.
Dr. Neeraj Bishnoi, Regional COO, AOI, emphasized the importance of early detection in cancer survival. He stated, "The key to surviving cancer is early diagnosis and prevention. With this camp, American Oncology Institute aims to motivate people and urge regular screening, offering best-in-class clinical expertise, technological superiority, and service excellence for patients in the Jammu & Kashmir region." Members from We Care Welfare Society, Rotary Inner Wheel Club, and Jandyal Sabha were present at the camp, supporting the cause. Rayhan Hussaini, Facility Director AOI Jammu, along with the Marketing, Nursing, and Medical teams of AOI Jammu, played a crucial role in organizing the mega camp. The camp provided free tests and services such as Mammography, Bone Densitometry, Pap Smear, PSA, and other lab tests, along with free oncology and general consultations. The team from AOI Jammu announced plans to organize similar camps regularly in different cities and districts of Jammu, aiming to create awareness and screen more people for early cancer detection. Rayhan Hussaini also shared the news that AOI Jammu is installing one of the most advanced Radiotherapy Machines, HALCYON E, making it the first-ever such machine in the whole of Jammu & Kashmir. He highlighted that AOI Jammu is empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, providing free-of-cost treatment regularly under this scheme.
