Jammu, Feb 3: Even as 20 Congress leaders have staked their claims on two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, the party high command is trying to rope in two non-Congress leaders to field them on one of the Parliamentary constituency of this region.
Highly placed sources said that the Congress high command has sought details about two non-Congressmen to approach them to give them mandates for Lok Sabha seats.
Important to mention here both the non-Congressmen whom the party is trying to rope in before the Parliamentary elections have already formed their own political parties.
Sources in the Congress said that some local leaders, who are aware of the ground situation in Jammu province, have supported the move of the central leadership and suggested taking this initiative to the logical conclusion.
On the condition of anonymity, a Congress leader said

The non-Congress leaders whom the party has approached have not given any encouraging response to the party as yet.
One of the leaders a year back was ready to join the Congress during the Bharat JodoYatra but some local leaders opposed his entry.
that the party leadership has proposed the idea of giving the Udhampur-Doda seat to a non-Congressmen provided he will formally join the party.
Sources said that one of the non-Congress leaders whom the party has approached has yet not given any encouraging response to the party. “The leader is already in touch with the BJP and exploring the possibility of making his entry into the Saffron Party”, a source said and added that the Congress leadership has promised to adjust him respectfully and honourable in case he joined the party.
Important to mention here that a year back this leader was ready to join the Congress during the Bharat JodoYatra of Rahul Gandhi in January 2023 but some local Congress leaders opposed his entry into the party.
After one year, Congress leadership has realized the importance of this leader who is now exploring possibilities of joining the BJP.
