Natrang’s Studio Theatre Presents “Miss World Undeclared”
6/2/2024 10:36:52 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 2: In a powerful display of theatrical artistry, Natrang’s Studio Theatre in Kachi Chawni hosted the play “Miss World Undeclared” today as part of its Weekly Theatre Series, Sunday Theatre. Written by Satyendra Shrivastava and directed by Neeraj Kant, the Hindi play poignantly explored themes of racial discrimination and the true essence of beauty.
“Miss World Undeclared” unfolds the heart-wrenching story of Asians living in developed European countries, subjected to racial discrimination and hatred by natives who perceive them as a threat to their resources. The narrative centers around a young schoolgirl, Noorie, who is relentlessly bullied by her fair-skinned classmates. The ridicule she faces about her appearance drives her to the brink of abandoning her education.
However, Noorie’s wise mother intervenes, imparting a crucial lesson that the real criterion for beauty lies not in physical appearance but in one’s inner virtues. She teaches Noorie that true beauty is defined by a good heart and a calm mind. Inspired by her mother’s wisdom, Noorie returns to school with renewed confidence. Her joy is further amplified when the results of the Miss World pageant reveal an Indian girl as the winner, reinforcing the play’s message that internal beauty surpasses external appearance. The play concludes on an uplifting note, emphasizing that genuine happiness stems from who we are, not how we look. The young talents of Natrang who delivered outstanding performances included Vrinda Gujral, Mehak Chib, Sanna Devi, Payal Khanna, and Lalita Sharma. Neeraj Kant’s expertise was evident in the lighting design and operation, while Aadesh Dhar’s musical composition added depth to the production. The show coordination was managed by Mohd. Yaseen, with Vandana Thakur handling the presentations.
“Miss World Undeclared” captivated the audience, leaving them with a resonant and inspirational message about the true nature of beauty and the importance of inner strength and character. This remarkable production by Natrang continues to highlight significant social issues, promoting awareness and empathy through the powerful medium of theatre.
